I'm writing as an American business traveler and tourist. I spent seven nights here and had a great experience. The staff were professional and friendly, and my room was clean and comfortable, with good soundproofing. The neighborhood is handy for travelers, with self-service laundries, convenience stores, a decent night market, MRT and bus stops, and plenty of restaurants close by. My single room was about half the size of the hotel rooms I'm used to in North America, and there was only one set of towels. Still, it had a desk and chair for working, a TV, a small closet, a small coffee table and chair, and a bed, so it was perfectly adequate for sleeping and exploring Taipei. Some things felt old school, like using a keyfob for the elevator and putting a physical object in a slot to turn on the electricity. That was more of a novelty than a problem. The hotel and rooms were well maintained, and I'd highly recommend Hotel Sunroute Taipei if you want a simple, clean, comfortable place to stay.

Breakfast was better than I expected. I care more about quality than quantity, and every option felt just right. The staff were a pleasure to interact with, as were many of the guests. On my first solo trip to Taiwan, Hotel Sunroute in Taipei felt like a home away from home. The service, cleanliness, comfort, and convenience were all as good as I'd hoped or better. I also felt a real sense of security and peace of mind. The hospitality was efficient and cordial, with genuine warmth. I appreciated it and look forward to returning.

The room is tiny, and the double bed is small. You can't open the window for air, the fridge is really loud, and the TV looks 25 years old. The hotel feels like it's from 1973, with nothing changed in 54 years. The air conditioning blows hot air. They wouldn't switch it to cold or give me a fan. I hate this hotel and everything it stands for. I'll never come back.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though I would've liked more comfortable pillows. The heated toilet seat and automatic bidet were a nice extra. Rooms are very compact, and two travelers with medium-sized luggage may find there's not enough space.

For a room to sleep and shower in, this was good value, and the location is hard to beat. Two MRT stations are just a 3-5 minute walk away. The staff and cleaning service were better than at most 5-star hotels, and I had a fine stay. The rooms are very tight, which was fine for my needs, but some things need attention. I'm okay with a dated room, yet the box springs were stained and the bathroom fixtures weren't working well. Replacing the box spring and fixtures would go a long way.
