Hotelshere-Ximen

I asked for a quiet room, but got one facing the bars and busy alley downstairs.

We stayed in a Standard Quadruple, and everything went smoothly. The room was bright, airy, and seemed well maintained. You can hear other rooms, though it wasn't much of a problem. The location was exceptional. It was easy to reach the tourist areas in the morning, before there were many people around. Self check-in was available, and when I asked for a late checkout because my flight was at night, the manager kindly let us stay longer. The room had free, stable wifi, bottled water, coffee, toiletries, and towels. There was also a water dispenser and laundry room in the lobby.

The location was amazing, right in the middle of the main district, with great food and live performances every evening. But all I could smell during my stay was cigarettes, and room 418 was smaller than other rooms. A group of people played mahjong loudly right next to us in the middle of the night. The halls had random upward slopes with no indication of where they started or ended. It was hard to see them because the carpet was dark and the lighting was dim, and I stumbled forward a few times without realizing there was a slope. With the cigarette smell, it was hard for me to breathe, and it may be harmful to people with weaker lungs. If you want to enjoy your stay, perhaps spend another pretty penny on somewhere nearby that's much nicer.

This was the worst experience I've had in Taiwan. The website photos looked fine, but the room was poorly maintained, the washroom smelled bad, and the place was noisy. I checked in by myself at night, and the whole process was unpleasant. It took about 30 minutes, and the password they gave me was wrong. After moving in, I was so dissatisfied I couldn't believe a room this poor cost 100usd a day. Even though it meant risking a loss of money, I moved to another reasonable hotel right away. This really was the worst experience I've had in Taiwan.
