Madison Taipei, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The bus stop right outside was super convenient, and there’s a 711 nearby too. The hotel itself was beautiful and clean, and we enjoyed our stay. They put out fresh bottles of water for free every day. It’s between two stops on the red MRT line, so the location is okay.

I was in a cozy room on the fifth floor, room 507. I didn’t stay long enough to spend much time at the hotel, though our company held a small client event here years ago. I like its smaller boutique feel. It’s a modern contemporary hotel owned by the Cathay group in Taiwan, in Daan district, a quieter part of Taipei that made a nice change from my usual corporate hotels in Xinyi district. There’s a lounge on the ground floor and a restaurant on the first. The rate was US$230. Taking off a point because the bathtub had a couple strands of hair in it, and I couldn’t raise the room temperature above 23 Celsius. It was 12 Celsius outside. 4/5.

We only stayed one night after landing in Taipei, and the front desk kindly worked with our early check-in request so we could rest after a 14-hour flight. The room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. Madison Taipei is conveniently placed near a metro station, a night market, and shopping malls, including 101. We had a great stay.

Hotel Madison’s rooms and front desk service were A1, easily five-star. Breakfast let the stay down. We went in at 09:15am, with service ending at 10:30am, but several buffet dishes, including pasta, cabbage, and roast chicken, were no longer being replenished. The wonton soup noodles we ordered from the a la carte menu arrived lukewarm, with the wontons stuck together, and the scrambled eggs tasted like nothing. Breakfast needs work.
