The helpful tips were a nice bonus. Staff were friendly, and you can get lots of travel advice from the brochures or by chatting with someone at the counter. Other pluses: it’s near train stations, the bed was comfortable, museums and attractions are within walking or cycling distance, and the price is wallet friendly. You can use face wash left by other travellers for free. Towels are available to rent for 50NTD, and laundry is on site; the dryer takes coins. Some downsides: the rooms aren’t soundproof, even the female bunks, so inconsiderate backpackers can keep you awake, even with earplugs. The lift stops working after 10pm, so expect to use the stairs. It also gets crowded during peak periods, which may not suit you if you want somewhere quiet. A few tips from me: if you’re not used to Taiwanese food, try searching for vegan or vegetarian places. There are lots of healthier choices in Taiwan. For bike rental, download YouBike and have a transportation card to register. Air Fitness is a good value gym, with a day pass for 200NTD or 80NTD per hour. I think you need a Taiwan number for that price. It was a pleasant stay, especially if you’re hoping to meet people and can sleep through a bit of noise.

I found this place while looking for somewhere to store luggage. We were only there for luggage storage, but the owner was super friendly and hospitable and treated us like guests. We picked up our bags at 8pm, before they closed, using the Bounce app. Highly recommend.

There are different types of rooms, so this place could suit pretty much anyone visiting Taipei. It’s in a great location, with friendly staff and a clean environment, and it’s good value for the money.

For one night, it’s okay. Location, WiFi, and price are the positives, and the bed was clean and comfortable. But the Hostelworld photos must be several years old. The hostel is tiny, and the showers and toilets are run-down. The so-called washroom is actually a passageway, with no real privacy, and the showers and toilets are shared without separate areas for men and women. Thin partitions between rooms mean you hear everything, and it gets very loud. The curtain on my bed was moldy, which is unacceptable. Staff also start cleaning and making beds at 9:30am, not 11am as stated, so it’s extremely loud when you’re still in bed. There are only small lockers for valuables, no big ones. The staff are super friendly, but I wouldn’t book again.

We checked in around 6pm and there was almost no water. Staff asked us to wait 15 minutes, then another 15, then another. We ran out of patience and went out for dinner. The water only came back around 7.30pm, by the time we returned. The air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted, it was either off and stuffy or very cold. The bath towel was yellowish and as small as a face towel. There was no shower curtain or shower base. There wasn’t a bed, just a mattress on a wooden floor. Breakfast was white bread, coffe/tea, and some fruit.
