Simple Plus Hotel

We come to Taipei every year, and this is our hotel of choice. My wife and I have stayed here several times because it's close to the Taipei Arena and Gymnasium for sporting events we take part in. It's a nice middle ground: other hotels have more facilities but cost more, while cheaper ones offer less. The rooms are fine, breakfast in a proper dining room is included, and the staff are great. They handle even small problems straight away. There's a tiny gym, a rooftop outdoor area where friends can gather, and washers and dryers that cost 100 TWD per cycle. Nanjing-Fuxing MRT station is a 3-4 minute walk away, with plenty of places nearby to eat or buy groceries.

The location was 5/5, the room 4/5, cleanliness 4/5, and service 3/5. Everything was perfect except for one staff member's attitude about the towel replacement policy. You have to pay extra if you replace towels more than once in a day. That's not a great way to treat someone staying ten nights. 🤔

I booked the one-person solo travel deal by accident, 13 days ahead. When I messaged them via line, they said to cancel and rebook, which would incur a charge, and warned I'd pay a high fee if I didn't. They could have just edited my booking. I canceled altogether because I didn't like the service, so I can't comment on the rooms.

As a solo traveler, I felt safe. The location was perfect, the rooms were clean, breakfast had good options, and the staff were polite and helpful. It was great.
