Spa Spring Hotel

Catherine Lee at reception was wonderful. She helped my wife and me use Klook to get the best deal available for booking two hours in the resort’s private spa. We had a great time, and I’m grateful they have such a friendly, professional employee.

The elevator wasn’t working, so we had to haul our luggage up to the first floor before we could ride it to the sixth. My elderly mom then had to use the stairs to get to and from our room. On top of that, we booked through Agoda with breakfast included, but customer service insisted it wasn’t part of our booking even after we showed proof. A very bad experience.

The front desk woman was lovely, and the location put us right by the main attraction. We tried an online hot springs package with egg cooking, arriving around noon to cook the eggs first. They were delicious. The tub was only half full, perhaps because we got there early. The place felt dated and small, with just a shower and changing area besides the bath. It was inexpensive, and we still had a good time, though next time we’ll probably try somewhere else.

The onsen on the 7th floor was fine, though the private furo in our room didn’t look appealing, so I skipped it. The bed was as hard as wood, and the place felt rusty and old. We also spotted a large cockroach, half dead, on the hallway floor. On Sunday, the day we checked out, there was no shuttle to Beitou station, so we walked about 20 minutes with our suitcases to New Beitou Station in the heat. Agoda hadn’t mentioned a free shuttle when I booked, so we’d taken a city bus to the hotel, but it was small and awkward with luggage.
