Walker Motel

The staff were friendly and accommodating, which is why I’m giving it two stars. It was the cheapest pet-friendly hotel in Taipei, but you get what you pay for. Our room was huge and also one of the dirtiest, most poorly maintained places I’ve stayed. There was mold on the walls, dust everywhere, and dirty vents. The wallpaper was peeling, the tiles were cracked, and the shower had no door. The cigarette smell was overpowering, as if the previous guests had smoked in the room. We bought Febreze and used the whole bottle. The free noodles were nice, but I didn’t realize this was a love hotel until we got there.

We booked this place because it was one of the few pet-friendly hotels, and didn’t realize it was a LOVE HOTEL. We ended up staying more than two weeks while looking for an apartment. Some staff were friendly, and the bedding was clean, but that was about all I felt comfortable with. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. The floors were filthy, and I wouldn’t walk on them without shoes. I bought cleaner and air freshener, then used an old torn bath mat to wipe things down. It turned black. Afterward, a maid accused me of washing my cat with the towel. I didn’t argue because I couldn’t speak Mandarin at the time. That was the only staff member I had a problem with. There was dust along the ceiling, dirty vents humming away, mold-covered walls, and lots of broken things: the shower faucet, a jacuzzi jet, and the shower door was missing. The first few nights I just lay on the semi-clean bed staring at the dust, thinking I might not survive the mold. Maybe someone looking for a last-minute gang bang would be happy with free noodles every day, but swingers should probably pick somewhere cleaner. The ladies don’t like dirty places. I’d avoid staying here again if I can.

The hallway had a strange smell, and the hotel feels a bit dated. Still, I’d stay again. The staff were super friendly, the room was spacious, and the jacuzzi worked well. The hot water was reliable, the linens were clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. It was a good deal.

We left and got a refund after finding used tissues scattered around the room. A woman was sent to pick them up by hand, which left me wondering what bodily fluids might have been on the bedding or her hands. This place is gross, even for a love motel. The elevator system is unnecessarily complicated too.
