Star Hostel Taipei Main Station

Getting around was easy from this perfectly located hostel, whether on foot or by public transport. Star Hostel had great amenities, clean and quiet rooms, and kind, helpful service. Breakfast was fantastic and changed each day. A really great stay all around.

The location made getting around easy: Taipei station of Airport Line is very close, and I could walk to famous sights and plenty of nice, reasonably priced restaurants. The common area was quiet and clean, and breakfast was good. I stayed two nights in a private room with a double bed. One thing I didn't like was the food rule. Only water was allowed in the room, so I couldn't enjoy snacks I'd picked up while traveling, which is something I usually like doing.

There are both dorms and hotel-style single rooms, and they have all the amenities. The top floor of a shophouse has been turned into a hostel, with a modern, clean, minimalist design that has a Japanese feel. The communal areas and rooms seem aimed at younger travelers, and they even organize group activities. A nice idea and a good place for young people visiting Taipei.

The location is hard to beat, about a three-minute walk to the main station for the red and blue lines, with a 24-hour convenience store right outside. The rooms were clean and kept up well, and the washing machine and dryer were clean too. Breakfast was included and well prepared. No surprise they were fully booked during the week I stayed. What stood out most was the service for a budget hostel. The front desk really tried to help, whether I needed a room change, had lost something, or wanted to leave luggage and take an extra shower after checkout before going to the airport. The staff made my first Taipei trip lovely and memorable. Thanks so much, team, I'll be glad to stay here again on future trips and recommend it to friends and family.
