The Corner House

We’ve been here for three weeks. It’s a little expensive, but we have two bedrooms and a living room, and there’s a great park nearby. The location is super convenient and it’s good value.

We visited in February 2024 with two small kids and found the place pleasant, convenient, and affordable. The staff were kind, the rooms clean and tidy, and the location speaks for itself. There’s just one elevator, but during our two weeks we only shared it with other guests twice. The suite bathroom was modern and clean, with a separate tub and shower, plus both a rain shower and hand shower. Housekeeping is efficient: you can request full hotel-style cleaning, or they’ll simply replace towels and take away trash. That lighter service was all we needed, and when we came back while they were cleaning, they were nearly done, so we didn’t have to wait long. Our room faced an active construction site in February 2024, and there was daytime noise. I’m fairly sensitive to sound, but it didn’t bother us much, and the kids still napped. With the AC running, the noise mostly blended into white noise. Soundproofing between units and to the outside was good, and the unit door felt solid and secure. Downstairs there’s a small, tidy laundry room with two washers, two dryers, and baskets guests can borrow. At other hotels, like the W, washing can cost something like $500 per sock, or you have to carry laundry to a laundromat and figure that out.

The staff made this such a fantastic experience. My wife and I came to Taipei from the US to adopt our daughter, and it was our first time in Taiwan. We stayed in two rooms at The Corner House over a week. I work in healthcare and travel a lot, and this was one of my best hotel stays. Everyone at reception spoke English very well and helped us get around. They were personable and approachable, and helped with anything we needed, far beyond what I’d expect, at least in America. We had a single bedroom first, which was just right for my wife and me, though probably too small if our other kids had come along. The suite we moved to had two bedrooms and a living area, with plenty of room for the family. Both rooms were clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the prices were reasonable. The breakfast room is lovely, and while the buffet isn't huge, there are lots of choices, including local dishes that quickly became my favorites and familiar Western options like fruit, toast, eggs, and cheese. I recommend the steamed buns, the bao. The laundry room has just two washers and dryers, costs $2 USD per machine use, and was a bit more expensive than I expected, but the machines worked well and I only needed them once. The fitness center was much nicer than I expected, and there was a pool table too. It’s a quiet, pleasant neighborhood close to Da'an Park. There’s a small playground across the street and a nice grocery store just beyond it. Restaurants and convenience stores are only blocks away. The local train station is a block away, making it easy and cheap to reach Taipei 101, the Taipei Zoo, and farther parts of the city, for less than $1 USD per person. Da'an Park is lovely for a walk or relaxing at day’s end, with birds that are nice to watch. There’s no pool, which didn’t matter to me, though it might have if my kids had been with us. For a quiet stay with easy city access and a relaxing place to come back to at night, this hotel was just right. I hope it’s still doing well when we return to bring our daughter back to her home country. 10/10. Much love to the hotel staff.

We spent four weeks here during the busy CNY period and never had to queue for the laundry. The lower ground floor has a game room, gym, and self-service laundry. Our residential suite felt roomy and cozy, and breakfast each day had good variety, with a fun snack bar available during the day. The hotel is on a quiet street, about three minutes from the MRT and close to Daan Park. The weekend flower market and YongKang street are a short walk away. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
