I ended up cancelling and losing the first night's fee, so I can't comment on the rooms. The self check-in was the worst I've experienced. I booked through Expedia and gave them my Line account a week in advance so we could communicate. They replied in Chinese, which I translated, and said they'd see me the following week. But despite trying several times through Line and Expedia's message feature 24 hours ahead, I got no check-in details or replies. I tried the night before, that morning, and that afternoon. I only wanted to know when the instructions would arrive. After I cancelled and messaged to say never mind, they replied quickly and said they were working on the communication system. Expedia wasn't helpful either, just telling me to contact the property. Frustrated by the lack of response, and having read complaints about cleanliness and unfriendly staff, I cancelled. The location seems good. I'd even found the place a few days earlier while visiting Shihlin market to make check-in easier, lol.

It was nice being so close to the Shilin night market, but staying in the room wasn't pleasant. We paid over $2000 a night, and the stay was one of our more disappointing ones. The room looked old, with peeling wallpaper, holes in the carpet, and a window that faced a wall. There was no one at the front counter, so check-in and checkout were self-service, and no baggage service was offered.

The location has some advantage, but nothing else made this feel like a welcome to Taiwan. The check-in machine had no credit card payment option, and nobody was there to help. I called the hotel, but no one spoke English; all I got was, "Download Line, download Line!" They provide none of the usual hotel items, so bring your own toiletries. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Really good value in Qianjin. I had a lovely stay, and the place has laundry machines, detergent, and dryers on site.

The room was clean and pleasant, but the power supply was faulty. They moved me to another room. It was hard to find the place, and reception closes by 8 pm, so call ahead if you'll arrive later.
