Taipei has an underrated spot for wandering among interesting cafes and little hideouts. It's also a splendid place to find local food, drinks, and desserts. Bring cash, though, since foreign credit cards aren't accepted.

Taipei's metro is so clean, spacious, and efficient that other subway systems seem awful after you've used it. Best MRT in the world.

There's a great fruit and vegetable market upstairs in the afternoon. The station itself is nice and clean, and there's an elevator exit.
