Holiday Inn Express Taoyuan by IHG

My room was on the top floor and had a wide, semicircular view over the city. Breakfast was included, and the menu changed during the two days I was there. James and Samson deserve a mention for being so helpful and sharing places to visit. The hotel is a bit old, but the staff are warm and friendly, which made for a pleasant stay.

The rooms are a decent size and fairly comfortable, but a few things need attention. The towels feel like sandpaper and should be replaced. Light comes in under the door from the hallway, which feels like a poor design choice. And, like most Holiday Inn Express hotels in Taiwan, it needs a dim bathroom nightlight. Right now it’s either completely dark or bright like daytime, which is jarring when you get up in the middle of the night. It seems like a simple fix.

There’s a lot to choose from at breakfast, and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. I slept well in the very comfortable bed, and the room was clean and became a comfortable place to stay. I especially liked the warm toilet seat with the wash function. The room is small and the ceiling is very low, so I felt a bit claustrophobic when I first walked in. The experience grew on me, though, and turned out to be very good.

After a day of traveling, this was a great place to stay. Breakfast was the best, and the hotel had all the amenities we needed. They even gave us a later checkout, ordered a taxi, and made everything easy and convenient. Perfect hotel!
