Metropolis Hotel

The breakfast was poor, with very few choices and food I didn't enjoy, and the pool's women's bathroom had a ceiling that was badly deteriorated. But the worst part was the hygiene: my sheets had what looked like old period blood on them when I arrived. Someone else in my tour group also said she killed two cockroaches in her room. I've stayed in motels in better shape than this, so I'd save your money and stay somewhere else. One of the worst hotel stays I've had.

The room itself was clean and roomy, but I came back to find water pooled in the middle of the bathroom floor and slipped. I caught myself with my hand, luckily, but I could have fallen hard or even fractured my tailbone. It left me shaken and angry, especially thinking about what might have happened if an older guest had taken that fall and lost the ability to walk. If you're booking this hotel while visiting Taoyuan, be careful and look things over. You never know when an accident might happen or how serious it could be.

The room was clean, though a little dated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The area was quiet and conveniently about 20 minutes from the airport, which worked well for our layover.

The bathroom floor kept getting wet after showers, though the rooms were a good size. The buffet meals also got a bit repetitive.
