Hotelday Plus Sun Moon Lake

We’d usually enjoyed staying here, and I still gave it three stars for the nature and location, though it’s a little remote. But this birthday visit left us thinking hard about where to stay next time, especially with guests coming later this year. We planned two nights, but our room was next to a loud generator that switched on and off every three minutes, making it hard to sleep. There was also a small water or toilet problem that left the room smelling off. We asked to change rooms in the morning at breakfast. After several conversations, the proposed plan was checkout at 11:00 and check-in at 15:00, leaving us to spend four hours out during the hottest part of the day instead of resting. The hotel was almost empty, with hardly any customers, so it seemed the room could have been ready much earlier. The service and management felt awful, just following rules that didn’t seem needed. We cancelled the second night because we clearly didn’t feel welcome. What a happy birthday.

The roof Terrace bar is a wonderful spot for sunset, drinks, and food with friends or family. The hotel is perfectly placed on the lake, and the rooms have balconies overlooking the mountains and water. The accommodation is exquisite, the restaurant food is incredible, and all the staff were friendly and attentive. A solid 10 out of 10.

Definitely one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Taiwan. Highly recommend a visit.

I never stayed overnight, but on a rainy day they called a taxi for me when I didn't have an umbrella.
