The payment experience at Natron Palace Arusha felt unfair and humiliating. We stayed from 26-28 January. At checkout the card machine wouldn’t work, and when we offered local currency, the receptionist insisted on a very poor exchange rate, 1:2500 instead of around 1:3000. That would have meant overpaying by a lot, so we paid in euros, €50 for a €49 room, and kindly didn’t ask for change. When we came back briefly that evening to collect our luggage, we weren’t allowed to leave, and the payment issue came up again. The machine still wasn’t working, and the manager again demanded the same inflated rate. We had no cash left by then and had to go to an ATM after dark. The withdrawal also cost us an extra 10% in fees, on top of the unfavorable exchange rate. After we returned, the receptionist repeatedly refused to give us the correct change and laughed at us in a mocking, disrespectful way. This was not a good experience. It left me feeling the hotel may try to take advantage of guests when it can. Future guests should be cautious when paying here.

The food was good, and the hotel was convenient. I found a TV in the room, and the WiFi worked great. The bathroom, though, was too small. Breakfast had a good variety and was cooked well. For me, it was meh, about 6.5 out of 10.

I booked one night before my flight from Kilimanjaro airport, but couldn’t sleep at all. There were mosquitoes everywhere, no staff at reception, and no hot water in the bathroom. The room had no fan or AC, so it was humid and smelled bad. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, and the sheets and towels were filthy and smelled awful. I didn’t even want to touch them. Absolutely the worst hotel experience of my life. Avoid it.

I really liked breakfast. I eat so much in the morning that I can get by eating just twice a day. The room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and sheets. The hotel is pretty nice, and most of the staff were super friendly, especially the restaurant team. There was one guy who kept trying to sell me safaris, like people all over the city do, and I didn’t like that.

Right in the middle of town and beside the bus stand, the location is really convenient. WiFi is great, and the staff can arrange an airport shuttle or spa treatments, and help connect you with your guides. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, are on the small side, but the price makes it worthwhile.
