Saadani Safari Lodge

Benny, our guide, and Souleyman, our chauffeur, were wonderful company and took such good care of us throughout the stay. We’ll remember you both, and thanks for being happy to be photographed. We’ll keep that lovely memory! We spent three days and two nights here, and it felt like heaven. Every staff member was kind, lovely, and quick to help with anything we asked. We spent two nights and went on five different safaris. Every one was rewarding for wildlife viewing, and we came home with more than 200 lovely memories in photos, even after deleting some 😅 From Sansibar, the flight to Saadani National Park is only 15 minutes, so consider it while you're on vacation there. It was absolutely worth it. The lodge and park were amazing. Thanks to the whole lodge team and our guide Gasper for making the stay so special 😘

The river trip was a great chance to look for crocodiles, hippos, and birds, and our visit to Saadani village was also a highlight. We chose that over relaxing by the pool on the third day. The pool was there as an option after the morning safari and breakfast, before our plane pickup and smooth transfer back to the hotel. The schedule was full but ran smoothly. On day two we were up at 5:00 am for coffee or tea, left for a sunrise safari at 5:30 am, came back for breakfast and a break, took the boat at 10:00 am, had lunch, then headed out again at 4:00 pm. Day three began with another 5:30 am safari. After the first evening outing, no other German-speaking guests arrived, so Papakinyi and his driver gave us private tours for the rest of the stay. We arrived at the Saadani airstrip in the afternoon and met Papakinyi, our German-speaking guide. We were thrilled to see giraffes within the first few minutes. After the safari, we went to the lodge, got our room key, and were immediately impressed by the food. Escapade Zanzibar had arranged the trip, and everything was organized so well that all we had to do was be in the hotel lobby at pickup time. The journey went very smoothly. Saadani National Park’s landscape is breathtaking, and we were lucky to see many animals up close. We didn’t spot elephants or lions, unfortunately, but the safari was still a wonderful experience. Papakinyi is dedicated and fantastic at explaining things and spotting animals we would have missed. He speaks good German and answered almost all of our many questions. The lodge is beautifully designed, and the rooms have what you need. The lighting could be better, since the LED quality makes everything look a little grey, though that’s a minor gripe. The staff were very friendly and attentive. One uncomfortable thing was that the gardener would randomly try to sell guests seashells from the beach. The kitchen was a pleasant surprise: everything we ate was excellent and better than expected. Many thanks for the wonderful stay. The Saadani Safari Lodge is well worth recommending. After the safari, we had great food, and the people were lovely and helpful. It’s a quiet place. I really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it.
