We spent two very enjoyable nights being thoroughly spoiled at Grumeti Migration Camp, and would definitely return. The tents were large, luxurious, and comfortable, with hot showers. Food was delicious and nicely presented, portions were good, and tea and coffee were available all day. There was also free Wi-Fi and an in-room charging station. The camp is on a hill with lovely views over the Grumeti plains, just outside Serengeti on the northern edge of the Western Corridor. The Grumeti river runs through the concession and into Serengeti. During the day we saw elephant, giraffe, buffalo, and impala. On the night drive in front of camp we spotted lion, hyena, and gennet. I imagine game viewing would be incredible when the migrating herds come through from Serengeti. We planned and drove our own safari, and had no GPS, so staff met us in the local village in the late afternoon. They were friendly and professional, and took our safety seriously, always escorting us to our tent at night. There’s a swimming pool to enjoy in summer.

From the deck of my “tent,” I watched elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, topki, and warthog pass by. The location is amazing, and service from the whole staff was impeccable. I’d definitely stay again.

The online photos give a misleading impression. I know this is in the wild and far from cities, but I still didn’t find the lodge very pleasant. There was mouse droppings everywhere, even in our bed, and flies bit us. It’s a long way from central Serengeti, where most of the action is, and it’s very expensive.

Great staff, service, and food, but the room was a letdown. There were bed bugs, definitely not mosquitoes, and they need to fumigate the mattresses. The shower was also full of limescale.

Superb views from an outstanding spot. You’ll spend the night right in the middle of Serengeti. These pictures were taken from the hut porch. More pics at instagram/frosty_frames.
