Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge

The lodge has its own garden, and the meals were outstanding, fresh and full of flavour. They even packed excellent lunches for our safari days. The staff were warm, professional and always a step ahead. The lodge also supports an orphanage a short walk away, and the manager can take you to meet the children. He clearly has a real relationship with them, and they were genuinely happy to see him. Our rustic cabin had modern comforts, locally inspired decor, high quality linens and a spacious deck with beautiful views. Hot water bottles were brought to our room at night, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. It's tucked into a unique natural setting, and staying here felt like an experience in itself. Add a day or two to relax at the lodge if you can.

The room was spotless, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The view from the lodge is breathtaking. I was greeted so warmly on arrival, and that set the tone for our whole stay. It was a beautiful, peaceful break, and I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Learning that the lodge donates its revenue to support a nearby orphanage made our stay feel even more meaningful. The staff gave us outstanding service and made the experience memorable. We loved the calm atmosphere on the hill, and both the room and the staff were exceptional. The only small drawback was that we found the lunch boxes hard to eat. Even so, it was a wonderful stay and I'd highly recommend Rhotia Valley.

A warm hot bag in bed was a nice surprise, and the location was fine. Some cabins were much better than others, though. We had trouble getting reliable hot water, and the power kept going out all night and for most of the evening. Beer cost almost three times as much as at other lodges. We were also automatically charged a 3% tip for our stay, which hadn't been mentioned or explained beforehand. The views were fine.
