Turaco Hotel feels like a serene place to settle in, not just a stopover for safari. We stayed six nights and found it easy to relax and enjoy the slower pace, the excellent food, and the genuinely attentive staff. The pool is lovely, and the massages are outstanding. Experienced therapists use thoughtful technique, and I recommend booking a deep tissue massage. If you have time, walking to Karatu gives you a chance to meet local people and see everyday life, which felt more meaningful than looking out from a safari jeep. It's a smaller town without Arusha's buzz, but that is part of its charm. Approach people openly and respectfully, and their warmth comes through. A smile and greeting go a long way. Local motorcycle taxis were surprisingly comfortable, safe, and efficient, and offered another way to connect with local life. The setting near Ngorongoro, the Serengeti, and Lake Manyara is convenient, yet the hotel itself feels secluded, like a luxury haven. It opened in November 2024 as the newest addition to Marriott’s Heritage Hotels collection. Warm wood interiors, thoughtfully chosen art, and gardens create a calm atmosphere. The gardens are meticulously cared for without machinery, so there's no disruptive machinery noise, and you can hear nature. Although still young, they already attract many birds and other activity. At around 1,600 meters elevation, there were thankfully few mosquitoes. Our spacious, elegant rooms had lots of charm, a walk-in shower, and a jacuzzi bath. Housekeeping and evening turndown were impeccable, and that care showed across the property, from service and presentation to the excellent food, much of it made with organic vegetables from the hotel's own garden. The people are what really make Turaco exceptional. Mary, the general manager, was clearly involved and did a great job setting the tone and keeping things running smoothly. The restaurant manager had a real knack for making everyone feel welcome and at ease. The chef, who made our delightful five-course lunches and dinners, was creative and passionate, and enjoyed talking with guests about his dishes. All in all, Turaco Hotel made us feel completely at home in a serene, well-managed place. We'd happily return.

Mary and her team went above and beyond, adding all the small touches that made our family stay truly memorable. We can't recommend Turaco Ngorongoro Valley highly enough. Our family of five visited in January 2026 and had a wonderful time. Before check-in, Mary, the hotel manager, was so helpful with our many questions and made everything feel easy. Johnson collected us from Kilimanjaro airport, and our airport transfers were arranged through Turaco with Kearsleys Travel. We were very grateful to have Johnson as our safari guide, he was incredible! The restaurant staff gave us a warm welcome, and we appreciated them staying open a little later on arrival day so we could have dinner after a long day. Omar and his restaurant team were fantastic. Stephano and Monica looked after us at breakfast and dinner most days. The food was delicious, with a new menu every day and options for all tastes. The lodge is beautifully designed, with a lovely pool area and tucked-away spots to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The massages were among the best we've had, and we'd highly recommend trying at least one. I'm sure I've missed other good things, but if you're thinking of booking, we'd say go for it, absolutely. Thank you to Mary and everyone for such a memorable stay.

The team made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived at Turaco Ngorongoro Valley, and the service was thoughtful all the way through, from the front desk to the restaurant. Mary, the hotel manager, personally helped with every need and was always kind, attentive, and proactive. Her leadership really shows in how the whole team cares for guests. The staff also organized our safaris so smoothly that we could relax and enjoy Tanzania. They arranged a memorable trip to the Elephant Cave, and one team member joined us for the 8-mile hike to keep us comfortable and safe and help us enjoy it. Beatrice gave me an incredibly relaxing, rejuvenating massage too. The food was another highlight. It was amazing, and the chef introduced himself, explained the dishes, and made every meal feel special and authentic. As first-time visitors to Tanzania, we had our expectations exceeded. The care and attention from everyone made the trip unforgettable. I highly recommend Turaco Ngorongoro Valley for a complete, heartwarming experience, not just a hotel.

The artistic little homes have a fireplace and a two-person jacuzzi, with a really romantic feel. The grounds are full of gardens, and they say there are over 100 bird species on the property. It still feels brand new, and they’re just coming up on their first anniversary. We were lucky to find this hidden gem. Mary, the manager, was amazing, and the staff were so friendly!

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and nicely decorated, with a fireplace that was welcome on chilly winter nights. The grounds are beautifully kept, and dinner came as a choice of different four-course meals. They also put together great lunchboxes for our game drives. Daniel, the hotel manager, made us feel so welcome that we returned for another night after four days in the Serengeti. The rest of the staff were kind and respectful too. Big thanks to Kelvin, our safari guide for one day, who went above and beyond to make the trip memorable. We travel a lot, and this was one of our best hotel experiences. It was a perfect base for our Ngorongoro Crater game drives and really felt like a home away from home. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend part of our honeymoon.
