The owner and staff were warm, helpful, and full of local suggestions. They arranged a lovely breakfast each morning, sometimes with a local touch that we really appreciated. We loved this small, family-run apartment hotel. It felt much more personal than the big, touristy beach resorts, and we'd highly recommend staying here.

I've stayed here twice now, and I definitely recommend it. The flats are clean and well equipped, and the people working here are all kind and friendly. The owners, Eliana and Dadi, were always helpful with advice and arranging tours for us. We stayed in one of the new apartments on the top floor, with an amazing view over Kendwa, maybe the tallest around. I've visited Zanzibar several times and seen almost all the island's beaches, but none compares to Kendwa. Thank you.

We had a very dangerous experience and couldn't sleep properly for the rest of our stay. Around 3 am, a local criminal started breaking into our top-floor room. Thankfully, my partner woke up and chased him away, but he could have been armed and hurt us. The manager's response was that the guard had been asleep. Seriously? Keeping us safe is his job. We were told this wasn't the first time the guard had fallen asleep on duty, and nobody treated the incident seriously. We didn't get an apology from anyone. The breakfast was the worst we had in Zanzibar, out of the four places we stayed. The curtains and mosquito net need refreshing, and the room smelled unpleasant. The place is way overpriced, probably because Kendwa beach is nearby. If you stay, make sure all the windows are closed and hope nobody forces their way in.

The rooms were 100% clean and spacious. Our hosts were very friendly, helpful, and cared a lot about their guests' wellbeing. It's a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We'd definitely come back!
