Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel and Villas

The people are what made this place stand out. My daughters and I came to feel that the staff were friends, and it was hard to say goodbye. They took care of our rooms, shared local history and recommendations, checked how we were doing, and played bao with us every day, always gently and with a smile. When my daughter got sea urchin spines in her foot, someone cradled her while carefully removing them with a sharp leaf from a plant. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, you were all beautiful people. Asante sana! Tutaonana baadaye! The place itself is a lush paradise, with a large garden on a beautiful island where, sadly, greedy developers have started cutting down vegetation elsewhere. There are lovely views over the turquoise ocean, loungers and hammocks, a pool, and bikes for riding on the beach. You can walk to the dive and snorkel centre or to local restaurants. There’s a variety of good food and cocktails of the day, and welcoming staff who’ll serve you or give you space, whichever you prefer. Our air conditioned room had a different folded towel shape on the bed each day. The style is high end but still relaxed and rustic. I can’t think of anything not to like about the place.

The team are incredibly friendly, always smiling and happy, and they really want to make your stay special. The housekeeping ladies made up the room so nicely each day. Elisabeth was especially creative with the bed decorations, a lovely surprise every time. A big thank you to Nadja, Kilosa, Brighton and everyone else on the team! The rooms are nice and set in the middle of a tropical garden. It’s a wonderful place to relax and calm down.

The beach and resort are crazy beautiful, and the food in Pearl is amazing. We had a great stay there. The staff are funny, warm and really helpful. They welcomed us with open hearts and gave us lots of good tips. We spent our mornings diving with ocean dive, which was awesome too. Would recommend it 100%.

We’re really enjoying our holiday here and feel very comfortable. The whole staff are kind, professional and genuinely welcoming. We especially appreciated how the hotel team supported us when we ran into a difficult situation with our travel operator. They did everything they could to help and make us feel looked after. Elisa and Kilosa were truly outstanding, always present, attentive and caring, and seemed to understand what guests wanted before we even said it. Thank you to the entire team!
