Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa

We had a wonderful honeymoon at Blue Bay Resort and felt safe, thanks to the security around the hotel. The rooms were always cleaned nicely, the food was good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I'd recommend it for a peaceful stay. Adonis, the main manager, helped me arrange a surprise for my wife. Dass, the general manager, was very friendly and even took us to our room. At reception, Saaida helped sort out some minor booking issues on my side, Athumani gave excellent service both at the hotel and when I called beforehand, and Simon made us feel welcome when we arrived. The restaurant team were great too. Chokora was friendly and always smiling; Ramadhani was kind and offered ideas for things to do on the island; Ruti gave excellent service; Atila made delicious cappuccinos my wife really enjoyed; and Mohamed made us nice mocktails and drinks. Kudos to the chefs.

The staff were helpful and seemed to have more freedom to connect with guests, which made this hotel stand out from others in Zanzibar. We had no service complaints, and the Wi-Fi worked well most of the time. The one thing to know is that the long-trousers dinner rule wasn't followed very strictly, so disregard my comment if that doesn't bother you. On arrival we were upgraded from their other hotel, so we started off very happy. Our room was clean and housekeeping kept it that way whenever needed. The food changed each day and had plenty of nourishing choices, good salads, fruit, and fresh homemade naan. There are cozy spots and seating areas to relax with a drink, plus evening entertainment. Dancers performed, and a live band played old favorites by Lionel Richie, Madonna, ABBA, and others. The pool is a good size, and there's a second one as well. Thanks for the hospitality. The gardens are magnificent, and the pools and bars were clean and cool. We also enjoyed the evening entertainment and found the spa therapists very professional, with excellent technique. It's a smaller resort, so it feels more intimate. The main dining room was calm, with no lines. Staff were very friendly, and Jimmy, the restaurant manager, was especially caring and accommodating when he helped find me soya milk. We loved our stay and dream of returning soon.

The evening performances by acrobats and dancers were impressive, and we got to enjoy local music and traditions. The Zanzibari evening was another highlight, with freshly prepared specialties. The resort staff were especially kind and helpful, and we found the Zanzibaris we met to be a wonderful people too. We were at Blue Bay Resort from December 19 to 27, 2025, and had a great time. The rooms were clean and spacious, the gardens, pools, and beach were immaculately kept, and the cuisine was excellent, with lots of choices including local dishes. Highly recommend the resort.
