They even surprised me with a birthday cake, which was lovely. The service was brilliant, and we got welcome drinks when we arrived. I especially liked the food, particularly the steak, and the pool was big, attractive, and had lots of places to sit. The beach is an easy walk away. We did have ants in our room, but they moved us right away and thoroughly sprayed the replacement room. One downside: the pool chemicals were so strong that my eyes stung for hours if I kept my head underwater too long. The masseuse was excellent if you want to unwind.

I came for a couple of nights and somehow stayed nearly two weeks. It felt like home. The staff really made it for me, so kind, genuine, and always ready to help, and as a solo traveler I felt safe and looked after. The place is calm, with soft music, a lovely pool, and a yoga shala that has weekly classes. Everything is kept beautifully clean, and the food was so good that I ate every meal here. A real gem in Kizimkazi, whether you’re after quiet time or hoping to meet friendly people.

We weren't guests at the hotel, just came in for a late lunch and stayed into the early evening. The beef burger and fries sounded basic, but it turned out to be one of the best burgers I've had. The patty tasted fresh, and the tangy dark sauce made a nice contrast, especially with the fries. Their pizzas are great too, particularly the vegan or vegetarian one. The waiters were friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. The food is amazing, and I'd recommend visiting or staying here if you need somewhere in the area.

The calamari curry on our first night was the best curry I've had in Zanzibar. We came back for dinner and I had fish with vegetables the next evening. Just a heads up if you're squeamish, the fish still had its teeth, though it made eating it a fun experience. The cocktails were delicious, and happy hour was 5-7, with cocktails at 14k each. The place has a relaxed feel and yoga twice a week. We did find an extra $26 on the bill, so check the total before paying, they'd added it incorrectly. Still, I'd recommend it.
