Breakfast was a fun change, with a mix of tasty fruit drinks and different breakfast dishes. I was only there a short time, but the care put into the place stood out. The rooms and restaurant had their own distinctive style, everything was well maintained, the lights and plumbing worked, and the WiFi was excellent. The people and service were brilliant. I came away pleasantly surprised by GR Comfort Hotel.

The people I met in Tanzania were some of the kindest I’ve dealt with, and the hotel staff worked hard to make me feel welcome. The hotel and restaurant were nice, and if you’re in Tanzania, try Kilamajaro Beer. It was amazing, the best beer I’ve ever had. I was there for work, and as a white American man on my first trip outside the US, I felt nervous. The hotel is in a rural area with no streetlights or security outside, so I wouldn’t have ventured out at night. I didn’t experience anything bad, but I was the only white man I saw during my three days there. I’d say yes to staying here, while staying aware of your surroundings. American media had given me a negative view of African countries, and I’d fallen for that before I arrived. The Indians in Mbeya were less polite, though nothing alarming. The people are humble and friendly, and I might have felt more at ease with companions.

One of the best affordable hotels in Mbeya, if you ask me.

The views were lovely, and the staff were wonderful. I got in early in the evening and was glad to have a comfortable room where I could relax. The room was clean, dinner at the restaurant was amazing, and I slept peacefully. A really great place to stay in Mbeya.

A nice area to visit.
