Qambani Luxury Resort

Qambani was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in, and the perfect place for our honeymoon. The villas, rooms, grounds, and pools are beautifully designed, with carefully chosen furniture and stunning views. We loved the beach in different ways through the tides: exploring tide pools and watching sunset when the water was out, then swimming and kayaking from the private beach at high tide. When the sea was too far out, the pools were ideal. The staff were kind and helpful throughout, and arranged a beautiful dinner for our last honeymoon night. We looked forward to each day’s menu and enjoyed every meal, with a different scenic spot for each one. Reception also organized a smooth sunset Ngalawa sailing trip, a short drive away because the tide was too low to leave from the beach. My husband arranged a deep tissue massage through the spa, and it was one of the best he’s had. It was one of the pricier hotels in Zanzibar and during our two weeks in Tanzania, but felt completely worth it. We’d return in a heartbeat to try another villa. The food was wonderful throughout our stay, fresh, creative, and beautifully presented. The team made us feel so well cared for, and Dainess and Atu deserve a special mention for planning everything so carefully. Qambani was a peaceful, secluded break from the busier parts of Zanzibar like Nungwi and Kendwa, where you’re constantly approached by “beach boys.” We loved the daily sunsets and exploring the ocean at low tide. We stayed in the Coastal Room to finish our two-week anniversary trip through Tanzania. It was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated, with a whole villa to ourselves. The entrance garden and ocean view were beautiful, and there are three pools on the property. The main one, overlooking the sea, was our favorite. I also enjoyed seeing the Eastern Golden Weavers visit throughout the day. The food was amazing. The chef and team are talented, and I had the best butternut squash risotto of my life. I live in NYC and have eaten at many Italian restaurants, including Michelin-starred places; this risotto was perfectly balanced and seasoned, still the best I’ve had. Breakfast was delicious too, thoughtfully made with fresh fruit and local ingredients. On our last night they surprised us with an anniversary cake, such a sweet touch. I had a relaxing spa treatment in front of our villa, listening to the ocean. Every staff member was friendly and attentive, which made the stay feel personal and warm. I kept forgetting people’s names, so name tags might help. It was a hidden gem and an unforgettable stay.

The staff made everything easy, with warm welcomes, constant smiles, and great English and communication. Their upbeat attitude added so much to the atmosphere. We spent five nights at Qambani and really didn’t want to leave. The resort is stunning, mixing modern comfort with African architectural character. The rooms and pool areas feel carefully designed, and it has the amenities you’d expect from a five-star place without losing its personality. Meals were varied, beautifully prepared, and delicious. We would have liked a little more spice here and there, but that’s just our taste. We loved the mix of local Zanzibari food and fresh seafood with international classics. The grounds feel like a hidden sanctuary, and the private beach seems to stretch for miles. Tides shift dramatically, making the scenery change through the day. Seeing local villagers walk across the low-tide flats gave each day a peaceful rhythm. We had some doubts about the cost of Zanzibar, but Qambani exceeded our expectations and felt worth it. It felt like substance rather than hype or glossy Instagram photos, and we left without a complaint. A heartfelt thanks to the whole team for an unforgettable stay.
