Vamos Hotel Mikumi

Dominic and Hamza looked after us and arranged our safari. The hotel is near the national park, the food is great, and the rooms are reasonable for the price. I'd visit again.

The property was poorly maintained, and hygiene was a serious problem. Our rooms were tiny, dirty, and damp, with moss on the walls and dust and fungus on the furniture. We booked four rooms for four couples. One was so small it seemed like a corner storeroom turned into a guest room, with twin beds and barely enough room to place an extra chair. Another had just one lightbulb, so it was dark enough that we had to use our phone flashlights. The restaurant was unclean too, and the staff couldn't do much. Tea charges were confusing: order one cup and they'd bring a whole flask; if you filled two cups halfway, they'd charge for two, but drinking three cups from one cup counted as one.

This gated hotel, just outside Mikumi National Park, felt safe. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, with AC and hot water, and the comfortable beds had mosquito nets. The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and offered a great variety. I'd highly recommend it to travelers visiting the National park.

We brought a group from a US secondary school, and the hotel worked with us to make sure everything was ready before we arrived. The hotel is right on the highway. Our rooms had working fans and air-conditioning, mosquito nets on the beds, and hot water for showers. The parking area was gated and guarded at night. We enjoyed the meals, and one morning they prepared boxed food for our safari.
