The hotel has a nice atmosphere and a good location, but my stay was very disappointing for the amount I paid. The room is old and badly needs maintenance. One night, after we got back late from sightseeing, there was no water. No staff were nearby, so we had to go to reception. They said they’d informed maintenance, but weren’t helpful, and the maintenance person took 1.5 hours to arrive. That’s unacceptable at night. There’s no room phone, so even a small request means walking to reception. Check-in was greatly delayed and communication was uncomfortable because Mr. Arshad at reception, if I have the name right, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Management needs to improve staff behavior, room upkeep, and basic facilities. 🙏

The location is amazing, with turquoise water at the beach. The room is spacious, but it needs maintenance. The shower hose leaks badly, the old hair dryer works only when it feels like it, and they provided just one large towel and one small one for our three-day stay. The city tax is also very expensive at $8 a day.

It’s a quiet, relaxing hotel in a great spot right by the sea, and it was very clean. Everything else was perfect apart from one person at reception. The tall man who wears glasses wasn’t friendly or professional, and didn’t communicate well. He seemed to have a bad attitude.

Karim Uncle and Hafiza Aunty are the heart of Amaan Bungalows. We met them on what was meant to be a one-night stay, and their kindness made us feel at home right away. We ended up staying four days. We’d planned to spend a night in Paje, but felt too attached to leave, so we went there on a day trip instead. The place is spacious and well located, with a pool and direct beach access. The rooms are simple, with basic amenities, and it felt like a good option for a short stay. It’s clean and peaceful too. But what made it special was the time we spent with them. We shared stories for hours at the beach café, looked forward to seeing them at breakfast, and enjoyed evening beach walks, ginger tea, and long chats after dinner. On our last day they insisted on treating us to dinner. It was such a heartfelt gesture, and we truly felt like their own children, like we’d found family in another country. They helped with activity bookings, places to visit, and local guidance, making our trip easier and more special. I’d recommend Amaan Bungalows to anyone looking for somewhere that feels safe and like a home away from home. I’d happily return to Zanzibar just to see Karim Uncle and Hafiza Aunty, and I’ll definitely stay here again. ❤️✨

We really enjoyed our stay at this clean, lovely hotel right on Nungwi beach. Boats for dolphin trips and Mnemba leave straight from the beach there.
