I woke up to the sunrise each morning because my room was right on the beach. Sharazad boutique hotel felt like paradise, with morning runs, beach yoga, hammocks, good food, and staff who were truly warm. I had to extend my stay because of a medical issue, and everyone went out of their way to keep me comfortable. The jungle gym was a lot of fun too. I’ll be back! :)

The yoga was a highlight. The teacher was really professional, and since I was almost alone during the off-season, I got private sessions. One was in the covered yoga temple, surrounded by jungle sounds, monkeys, and birdsong, and another was right on the beach. Both were unforgettable. I visited Sharazād Boutique Hotel at the end of May, and the weather surprised me in the best way: hardly any rain, just sunshine the whole time. The beach felt magical, endless to walk along, safe, and peaceful. The hotel is full of thoughtful details, with hammocks and cozy little hideaways everywhere that make you want to relax. The food was excellent, and the staff were warm and attentive, somehow anticipating what you needed before you said it. One of the best hotel stays of my life, and I’ll absolutely return.

The hotel was comfortable and well equipped, as other reviews have mentioned. We spent four nights here after our safari, but what I really want to remember is how kind everyone was when my daughter became unwell and we had to cancel the trips we’d planned. Staff checked on her, arranged individual portions of food and fresh ginger tea, and offered to help organize medical care. The operations manager also offered to arrange breakfast at the sister hotel in Stonetown and luggage storage on our last day. That unfortunately didn’t happen, but we appreciated the offer. The gentleman at the restaurant, Santosh? Sorry if I’ve got the spelling wrong, was especially kind. Thank you all for looking after us when we needed it. All is well now too. Asante sana xx

I spent the winter at sharazad boutique hotel and can’t recommend it enough. The grounds were peaceful, the staff friendly and helpful, and together they made a beautiful place to stay on Zanzibar. The open air design blends nature and elegance and feels so relaxing. The New Year celebrations were a perfect way to begin 2026, with a big buffet and local live music that got many guests dancing into the new year. This hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Sharazad is a charming boutique hotel on a private beach, laid out like a little village in the sand. It’s peaceful and intimate, a lovely spot to recharge. You can relax by the pool, stretch out on a sunbed facing the sea, or visit the kitesurf club next door. We first stayed in two Deluxe Beach Suites, then moved as planned to a Deluxe Sea View Bungalow. The bungalow felt more refined than one of the suites, No. 16, even though it cost more. Suite 32 was beautiful, but a little less private because it’s close to the neighboring suite. I’d ask for a map before booking so you can choose the layout that suits you. Housekeeping was impeccable, with thoughtful attention every day. We had a wonderful stay, but I’m giving it four stars because management never followed up on a concern we raised during the week. That was a small but noticeable disappointment given the quality of the property and how long we stayed. A beautiful, discreet place for understated luxury by the sea.
