Maru Maru Hotel Stone Town Zanzibar

For my work trips I usually choose Maru Maru. It sits in the heart of Stone Town, so most major landmarks are easy to reach on foot, and the traditional coastal style is charming and well maintained. The rooms and bathrooms are consistently immaculate, which matters a lot to me. The gym needs some attention, though: several metal items, including dumbbells and other equipment, have rusted in the sea air, and a few replacements would help. I didn't see a cleaning kit with a small towel and disinfectant spray, and AC remotes would make it easier to keep a comfortable temperature while exercising. Still a great place, and I hope they update the gym soon.

Everything was well maintained and cleanliness was taken seriously. The staff were professional, approachable, and considerate. Breakfast was so filling that I could roam around all day until dinner 😂. I enjoyed every second there.

The room was clean and spacious enough for our needs, and the buffet was decent. The pool is beautiful, the view is great, and there was some entertainment in the evening. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, and Maru Maru is ideally placed for popular activities nearby. The only downside was the lift not working, but with only a few floors it wasn't a big deal. I had a great time and would recommend it for good value in Stone Town.

What a lovely afternoon. The food was scrumptious and authentic Indian, and the place felt beautiful and magical. Thank you, Mr Anand, for a memorable experience and for the warmth you and your team showed us. We had an amazing time. When we started talking with Mr Anand, he learned it was our anniversary, and the staff all came out with a special cake to celebrate, plus a beautiful song and dance. A must-visit, one of the best things Stone Town has to offer.
