I had trouble sleeping because people were always on their phones without headphones, and alcohol wasn't allowed inside the hostel. The doors lock after midnight, so if you don't get back in time, you're stuck on the streets for the night. No one speaks English, and nobody ever replied to my airport shuttle request. My bag was stolen while I was staying there, and I was basically told tough luck. The only parts of the stay I enjoyed were the people I met. One Ukrainian guy was pretty nice even though he didn't speak English. One Ukrainian girl took me out drinking, and another spoke a little English, so I didn't feel like a deaf person anymore.

The guests' nightly shouts of "let's go drink!" and the smoky entrance area made this stay even worse. I'd booked a private room, but a slovenly woman who was only half dressed greeted us and said she'd just slept in the room that was meant to be mine. When I went in, I nearly cried. Dust covered the furniture, there were cigarette burns on the wall mural, and the bathtub was filthy, full of hair and reeking of sewage. It seemed like nobody ever cleaned it. I've traveled all over Ukraine and Europe as a budget traveler and stayed in plenty of hostels, but I've never seen such a pigsty or such disregard for the place. This hostel could easily be the worst in Ukraine. It's a shame the Inspector's team doesn't visit places like this. I've never seen such HELL!
