Hostel Veselka

I paid about $8 USD for the night, and you really do get what you pay for. There's a long flight of stairs, but I'm into fitness, so I liked the challenge. The place itself was neat, clean, and organized, and the location is hard to beat: safe, close to the metro, shops, and restaurants. Small things you need are reasonably priced. Just be aware, there's no AC in the room. I was there in late August and didn't sleep well. One idiot was loud and obnoxious at night, though that's not the hostel's fault. I could get fresh air in the break room. I saw the same girl at check-in around 10:30, again that night and early the next morning, and then at checkout. I'm not judging the staff for not being as polite as I wanted, but I hope those girls aren't working almost 24 hours by choice. That seems barbaric. Fair warning: don't expect more than what you paid for.

The rooms were clean and modern, and the reception was good. Everything seemed new and to a good standard, from the showers, beds, toilets, restroom, and kitchen. It's close to the center, with the Golden Gate of Kiev around the corner. I enjoyed staying here.

I really enjoyed my stay. Everything was clean, there were four WiFi spots, and I had what I needed to be comfortable in Kiev. The staff may not always speak English, but they try their best to help visitors. Also, the girl who was the administrator in the complaint below doesn't work there anymore, so you can forget those fears 😁

The WiFi could be better. There are four hostel networks, but the connection is poor inside the room. The hostel itself is very clean, including the bathrooms, which were always available. The kitchen is nice if you want to cook.
