The Key

For what it costs, this hotel is a really good deal. It's right in the center, between Khreshchatik and Sofiyska square, just behind St Michael cathedral and the funicular. You can walk to the tourist sights or get around easily. Our room was tiny, and the window didn't offer a view, but the bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly, and water, tea, and coffee were free. I'd recommend it.

There's complimentary hot and cold water, plus tea and coffee, at the check-in desk. The room itself was modern and clean, with brilliant WiFi and one of the strongest showers I've come across while travelling. For seeing Kyiv, the location is hard to beat. Finding the place wasn't especially difficult, but after arriving on a late or early flight, I struggled to work out how to get back in after midnight. The main entrance was locked, and nobody answered the bell or knocking. I found a side entrance and a door down the hallway that accepted my key card and led to reception. I was lucky to find it.

I spent more than a week there. The rooms have such original, thoughtful designs, and the manager was friendly and helped me with a personal situation. The cleaning lady was always smiling too. Thank you so much, you're amazing!

The rooms are on the small side but pretty nice. The women at reception were very accommodating.
