Yourhostel Khar'kovskii

I've stayed with this chain twice and had no complaints. Everything was clean and efficient, and I got good rest and sleep. The neighbors were reasonable and well-off, which mattered to me as a teetotaler who is wary of crowds in hostels. I had no problems here. Thanks for the warm welcome and friendly attitude. I can't think of a single good thing about this place. The room smelled strongly of damp, mold, and age, and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned for a while. It was freezing, with a huge gap at the balcony, and cockroaches crawling around. The bathroom was stained and moldy, as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. The bedding was heavily washed and stained, disgusting even to sit on. There were no doors, only a curtain, and the woman working as the "administrator" came into the room without asking. She was unkind, and we were afraid of her. She wouldn't let us take photos or send pictures of the "hostel" to anyone. She took our phone number, then said she didn't know why when we asked. Showers were allowed only at scheduled times, for no more than 15 minutes, and eating in rooms was forbidden. One of the girls was given a bed with men's underwear, a cap, and a shirt hanging there. The woman said they wouldn't bother us, that the man had gone to work and we were taking his place. When we asked her to clear the things away, she said they weren't biting. There was also someone else's men's underwear and other personal stuff on a shelf. They put a man and a woman in the same room. We needed help getting to the second floor, and to reach it you had to climb over a table with cacti, which was really uncomfortable on my butt. The mattresses creaked, and on the second floor I was afraid every time someone turned over that they might fall on my head. It felt dangerous even going into the kitchen. One night, a man came into the room and started asking who we were. I went to confront the woman about it. The whole stay felt like being in a horror movie.

The hostel is a little dated, but I had a great four-day stay. It was clean and cozy, and the staff were very friendly. The metro and shops were close by, so it's a good option for travelers.

I haven't been staying at the hostel for very long, but I'm happy with it so far. It's clean and cozy, the beds are comfortable, and the administrator is pleasant.
