Gianfranco found me the only apartment with A/C, which was a big help. He also pointed me to the BEST steak place in Kampala, so thanks, G! I was at Glennville Suites from February through June 2021, working at the US Embassy, and the location suited me well. The staff were attentive and my room was clean. Still, I would have stayed longer if it weren’t for the dogs beneath my balcony. Almost every night at 2 or 3 a.m. they fought, growled, barked, and squealed. The power also went out occasionally, once for more than a day, and the food in my fridge spoiled. Apart from those issues, it was good value.

Just across the road is the famous "patisserie," my favorite spot for coffee and viennoiseries, even better than in France. The American Embassy is nearby too. I’ve been to Glenville four times, always for short stays, and I really like how management looks after each customer. With free WiFi, DSTV, and A/C, it felt like home, and the place is safe, peaceful, and convenient. Nightlife and the nice Lake Victoria restaurants are a taxi ride away, about USD4, as is the town center. I’ll definitely come back.

The place has really gone downhill since the management left during the corona period. Guests aren’t treated with respect and the service is poor. Loud music from noisy neighbors starts at 4 a.m. The woman who was left in charge and her minions have ruined the place.

These budget apartments are secure and fully furnished, and getting to them is easy. They’re on the main road to Gaba, just a few metres from the American Embassy in Uganda. The property is beautiful.

The apartments are kept in amazing condition, and the price is very low for this area code. They’re run by a Swiss French manager with many years in hospitality who speaks several languages, so everyone feels at home when they arrive.
