The Five Horsemen Uganda Ltd - Hostel

The view of Kampala is amazing, the service is friendly, and the beds are comfortable. Good value for money. It can be very hard to find in the dark, with no clear signs, and dinner took several hours because the kitchen is so small. Still, it’s a decent hostel and I’d recommend it for a stopover in Kampala.

The staff were the highlight for me: super friendly and welcoming, and they recommended a good place for a late lunch after we arrived. The hostel has a cool, trendy feel, with paintings along the walls and an amazing balcony overlooking the city. The balcony bar has a decent selection of unusual beers to sample. Beds are comfortable with good mosquito nets, and the shared bathroom was clean and gave good privacy. There aren’t many plugs, and there aren’t many good spots to work on a computer, especially if you need to be plugged in. Still, for such a great price, it’s hard to beat, and it’s one of my favorite hostels from my travels.

The Five Horseman is an affordable place to stay in Kampala with everything you need, and the staff were especially nice. They helped us plan our trips and answered our questions. The hostel is a bit outside the city, though, and traffic means you need extra time to reach the center. There also isn’t much to do in the neighborhood.

We stayed at The Five Horsemen with friends and really liked the friendly staff and the hostel’s good vibe. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The rooftop bar has an incredible view and is a great place to hang out, including for solo travelers.
