Tangi Safaris Lodge

The birdwatching and safari were just awesome. Bwana Tembo Safari Camp had a real savannah feel, with quiet evenings, wildlife sounds at night, and lovely morning light. The staff were kind and attentive, always smiling and ready to help. We were surprised to hear they served Italian food and weren’t sure what to expect, but it was phenomenal, delicious and al dente :) We felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after.

We were brought coffee early each morning, which was a nice touch, and the food was amazing. The chef really puts in effort to make meals special, and even the packed breakfast on our departure day was great. Our individual chalet was comfortable, but the lake view was blocked by bushes that could easily be trimmed back. The road to Bwana Thembo is rough, so getting to the park gate takes about 20 minutes. And all three nights, loud music from the local community kept us awake, from around 4 pm until 5 am.

The greenery around the property makes it a lovely place for birdwatching, and everything was well maintained with great food. I stayed three nights and found it an amazing experience, one of the best safari lodges in Uganda. If you get to chat with the owners, Jo and Francesco, they can tell you a lot about the area's history.

The tent option felt authentic but was still really comfortable, and the rooms were great too. Dinner was delicious every night, with three courses, homemade bread and pasta. The beef Ragu was especially good. The staff were lovely, and a shout-out to Jimmy! Jo and Francesco, the couple running the place, were kind, attentive and funny. They helped us plan our safaris in an organised but relaxed way and made us feel welcome. We had the best time and couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere.
