We took a detour to Katwe while cycling the Trans-Uganda route, hoping to see elephants and other wildlife. It worked out brilliantly: on the way into town we saw at least 20-30 elephants, plus hippos, warthogs, antelope, and more. Camping at Njovu cost the same as their cheapest room, so the two of us stayed in a room for 60,000sh. It was just right for us, had all the amenities we needed, and the location worked perfectly. They also have cold beers, which was great!

We were heading to Katwe the next morning and stopped at Njovu Park Lodge to camp. We were the only visitors, but they welcomed us warmly. Since we travel with a roof top tent, they let us use the shower in one of their rooms. They also made us an amazing chicken curry for dinner and a hearty breakfast. Such a friendly place, highly recommended!

The staff at Njovu Park Lodge were super friendly and happy to help with any questions. Our room was large and great value for money. The lodge is just 50 metres from the national park, and over our three nights we saw elephants, hippos, warthogs, and gazelles.

You can enjoy a walk along the lake, visit the fish landing site, Flamingo Lake, and the salt lake, all without paying park entry fees. We spotted hippos, warthogs, elephants, waterbucks, and hyenas at night. A wonderful place to stay.

It's quiet here, with a good view of mweya peninsula. There are birds in the lodge trees, and you can watch elephants grazing below the lodge. Katwe town is 1km away if you need anything. It's good for camping too.
