After a seven-hour drive, I was shattered and didn’t appreciate being made to feel like a burden. If it hadn’t been so late, I would’ve checked out and gone anywhere else. I won’t be coming back. The reception staff were both brilliant, thankfully, but the woman serving in both the lounge and restaurant was miserable and rude. Her tone and manner were unpleasant whenever she spoke or was spoken to. I wouldn’t stay here if you want friendly service in the bar or restaurant. The club lounge wasn’t worth having either. There were very few soft or alcoholic drinks, and the food choice was batter squid and veggie quiche. I regret choosing this hotel, and the experience left me in a very uncomfortable mood.

The one letdown was breakfast. The fried eggs tasted as if they’d been sitting on the hotplate for ages, and the hash browns were barely cooked. Apart from that, the Crowne Plaza was utterly amazing. We originally booked it as a base to launch a Granite City visit, but enjoyed ourselves so much that we never left. We spent time in the Members Lounge, restaurant and bar, where both the service and food were amazing. I also slept well in a gorgeous room.

The staff were lovely and the room was really nice. It’s a decent hotel, though I’d give the location four stars. It’s a bit out of the way unless you’re working at the nearby industrial estates or using the airport.

A pleasant atmosphere and a good choice of drinks. The restaurant food was decent, and reception welcomed me in a friendly, professional way. A good airport hotel, with rooms that were reasonably clean.

The staff made me feel welcome from check-in through checkout, and the room was spacious and spotless. I slept wonderfully, thanks to the really comfortable bed and blackout curtains. I’d highly recommend it if you’re visiting the area.
