George Borrow Hotel

We’d happily have stayed another night if the snow had kept us in, but once the roads reopened we had to head home. We’ll come back in spring or summer to explore the area without the snow. Even with the storm, it was a wonderful experience thanks to our hosts. The hotel was quiet in the off season, but Karen, Rob, Clare & Mark still made us feel very welcome. After exploring Devils Bridge and The Arian Forest, we settled beside the lovely log fire at the bar and ate our evening meal there. It was beautifully served, with very nice sized portions. Our basic rooms were cozy and clean. Storm Goretti hit during our stay and nearly left us stranded. By morning, after it passed, more guests had arrived seeking refuge after abandoning their vehicles in the snow. The staff called around for local tractors to help them, and before long the roads had reopened.

After a long drive, this was a perfect place to stop. The food was amazing, with very generous portions, and everything came with a smile. The restaurant has beautiful views, and the building was clean and lovely. The staff were truly amazing and attentive. I’ll definitely return.

They let me in even though they were closing, saving me from the winter storm outside. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. Lovely area and a great atmosphere inside. Definitely recommend!

Karen was especially helpful and always available if we had questions. The staff were lovely, and the hotel felt very friendly and cosy. A full English breakfast was included. Hafren Forest and Elan Valley are just a drive away, and the location was perfect for us. We’d definitely stay again!
