The bed was very comfortable, and the main part of breakfast was delicious. The toast was cold and the yoghurt was too tart and unsweetened. The apartment is in an interesting location. We were disappointed by the woodlice infestation. We killed many over the weekend because we didn’t want them in our feet, clothes or suitcase. On the first night we saw a dead line of them behind the sofa and under the bed, which was grim. I mentioned it on the first morning, and the host asked what she should do, then said it was just part of staying in the countryside. I don’t think guests should have to deal with a constant infestation during an anniversary weekend. The host did try to clean them up while we were out on the first morning, but we still saw more than 20 on the second night and the following morning. It was especially unpleasant given that woodlice appear and like damp, mouldy conditions. The apartment is the basement of the main house shown in the pictures. Most of it is below ground level, and you have to stand up to get a bit of a view. We felt the sea view listing was misleading, as we wanted sea views. It has a separate entrance, but the owners also have access from their home through a door and stairs. They used that route to serve breakfast because it was windy, so they can come and go whenever they like. The listing for Waterside Rooms says there’s a kitchen, but there isn’t. There’s no room to prepare food, just a fridge and space to make drinks. You have to get water for the kettle from the bathroom, so it definitely isn’t a kitchen. The owners take the main parking spot, and there isn’t good lighting at night or enough room for another car. We had to park part of ours in a puddle, precariously close to a cliff edge. I wouldn’t recommend staying here or return, because of the woodlice infestation.

We especially liked watching the baby rabbits in the garden from our bedroom. The wildlife and sea views were amazing, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. A great place to stop while travelling north.

The owners are lovely and couldn’t do more to help. We had a homely apartment with fantastic sea views from the window. It’s a lovely, quiet and tranquil place to explore the local areas, and I’d recommend it.

We spent a couple of nights here for a short getaway with my boyfriend, but I wouldn’t stay again. The owners were so nosey that I felt uncomfortable. They seemed to watch us from the window whenever we left for a walk or went into the garden, and I felt they were snooping around in our room while we were out. Eric was aggressive and patronising when demanding to know where we’d parked. Judy kept watching our every move. If you value your privacy, avoid this place.

Judith and Eric have thought of everything, even homemade shortbread. The breakfast on the patio was lovely, and the bathroom was lovely too. The place is gorgeous, tastefully furnished and cosy, with an amazing view and a very comfortable bed. 5⭐️
