Glenskirlie House and Castle

We got together around a big table for 12 for our annual lunch after Christmas. The dishes were generous, well prepared and included some unusual things that tasted great. The staff were warm and welcoming without hovering. The building and its traditional decor are lovely too. Such an unexpected find, and I’d definitely recommend a visit.

There isn’t much to do around the hotel, so you’ll need to travel if you’re looking for things to do. We stayed one night as a gift from a relative and found the decor really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both our evening meal and breakfast were good.

The staff deserve a huge pat on the back, the service was spot on and all ten of us were happy with the cost. I’d booked Christmas lunch for our group, aka the golden girls, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect. Thank you, Glenskirlie. Xx

We liked the room itself, and the service staff tried to help as much as they could. Still, I contacted management after our stay and never heard back, so I wanted to share what happened. We paid over $300, and having our comfort overlooked was disappointing. There was a party on the night we booked, with music blaring through the night and into the early morning. If we’d been told about it before booking or at check-in, that would have changed things. It probably works well as an event venue, and the lively music might be fun if you’re invited, but I wouldn’t count on a quiet, romantic night with your partner. Around 1 AM, another guest woke us with a light knock on our door. They kept knocking even after I called out. It felt like something from a horror film, so I called the front desk. Staff did their best, but the knocking happened a few more times before the guest went to their room. Their room was right next to ours and connected by a shared door. I then spent another 20 minutes hearing them walk around, unable to relax or sleep.
