Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had. There was a huge range of fresh fruit and plenty of choices, including gluten-free options. The coffee was organic and from a local company. We were only there for one night, but would love to come back next time we’re in the area. The bedroom was tastefully decorated, spotless, and felt light and bright thanks to a huge mirror. Staff helped carry our cases up the stairs, and we were made just as welcome in the bar. It was full of cheerful locals and happy conversation. We also really enjoyed our evening meal. The serving staff were friendly, helpful, and polite, a real asset to the pub. Thanks to everyone for creating and running such an amazing gem as both a pub and B & B.

My family and I had Christmas dinner at the rose and crown today, and it was brilliant. The portions were generous, the food was lovely, and the atmosphere was so nice. Staff were friendly and attentive, welcomed us with a drink, and kept checking that everything was okay. One of the nicest pubs in the area, and I’d definitely recommend a visit.

We wanted somewhere peaceful for our anniversary, away from busy city life, and this felt just right. My wife wished we’d booked more than one night because the room was so comfortable. The double bed was huge and soft, the linen smelled lovely, and everything was tidy and well presented. The only small issue was the lights flickering now and then in the bathroom, main room, and bedside lamps, even when only one was on. Downstairs, a few of us had drinks and dinner in the pub. I had the madras from the specials, and my wife chose the plant based katsu chicken with rice. Both were really good and felt homemade, clearly made from scratch rather than like the ready made, warmed-up meals you get at high street pubs. Drinks seemed a bit pricey, but the staff were so welcoming that it felt like some of the cost went towards that service. They checked in regularly to make sure we were okay and enjoying the meal. In the morning, the lounge had fruit, cereal, croissants, tea, coffee, and a machine for lattes and cappuccinos. There was jam and butter in the fridge, which made me think toast used to be available, but it was self service and staff-run now, so I couldn’t find a toaster. A very minor thing overall. We’d love to come back for another relaxing stay away from the busy city.

We booked Christmas Lunch back in October and had an amazing visit today. There was a welcome drink when we arrived, and the atmosphere and decor were both lovely. The staff and food were fantastic, with generous portions and faultless presentation. Everyone had clearly put a lot of effort in. Hospitality is a hard profession, but this place has it down to a tee. I’d highly recommend it, and hope their success continues for a long time.

A cosy, comfortable night in a spacious, clean room with a really comfy bed. My partner and I stayed for one night and found it very homely. The staff were friendly and attentive, too. It’s a lovely little pub in a sleepy village on the outskirts of Bath, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
