The Kingfisher Bedford

I only came for a meal. The food was typical pub fare, with decent portions, and there seemed to be a good number of parking spaces. From the outside, the place looked pleasant enough. It also has rooms to hire for functions and overnight stays. The service charge was added without being mentioned beforehand. Disfrutar.

We came as a big family group for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday, and had a really good experience. Everyone said the food was lovely, and I'd give lunch 10/10. The staff were cheerful and friendly. The restaurant, hotel and event spaces are attractive and well looked after, in pretty grounds overlooking the river.

I had a lovely time at ‘apres at the jetty’ with a group of friends, but the £30 per person price is far too high. Drinks are included, but even with that, I think it should cost no more than £20. Maybe they've priced it that way to cover the fires, fondue stands and ceramics, heaters and other overheads, but I can't see it being worth anything near £30. We paid £60 for two people and got cheese, two portions of fries, six cubes of steak, six slices of pepperoni, six slices of sausage and two bits of prosciutto. You choose from a selection of meats and get two sides, but there's hardly any food. Again, we really enjoyed ourselves, the price is just way too high.

The Jetty Sunday Lunch Après at The Kingfisher in Bedford was a memorable Sunday out for us. Everything tasted delicious, especially the gravy and roast potatoes, and there was plenty of food. Service was warm and attentive throughout, and the setting has a lovely atmosphere. With very strong winds or driving rain, I imagine the exposed spot could be less comfortable, but we'd happily come back.
