The room was freezing when we arrived, about 13C, and though the host fiddled with an electric panel heater and said the central heating would start in 20 minutes, it was still cold when we returned at 8:30pm. We had to text him, and it eventually warmed up by 10pm. The bathroom had no heat, and its window was stuck open. There weren't enough cups or glasses either, so we went down to ask for more. On the second day the room wasn't serviced, and we had to wash the cups and glasses ourselves. No clean towels were left. When we left on day three, nobody was at the hotel, and getting the car out after it had been blocked in was a hassle. Parking initially seemed okay at £10p/n, but by Sunday we couldn't leave easily because a car was blocking us. We won't return. There's no working lift.

I stayed at The Homlea from 24-26 May, and it was a terrible experience. We found several bugs and took photos, but staff denied there was a problem and didn't help. My girlfriend and I were bitten overnight, and we didn't feel safe enough to stay, so we left after the first night. We had to pay for another hotel ourselves, seal all our clothes in bags, and buy new clothes to avoid taking the infestation home. It caused a lot of stress and unexpected expense. The bedsheets also looked visibly dirty, as if they hadn't been washed. Hygiene and customer care were completely lacking. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The family room was fantastic, clean and comfortable for us, a dad with three kids. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The location is ideal, between South Pier and Central Pier. If I'm back in Blackpool, I'll call here first. Thanks for making it a lovely few days.

The hosts were pleasant and welcoming, and the rooms are larger than in most Blackpool guest houses. The location is great, and reserved parking was reasonably priced at £8. We'd go back, although the mattress wasn't great. The shower head had no wall fitting, so you had to hold it while washing or just take a bath.

We booked at the last minute through booking.com and should have checked the recent reviews. The cleaning didn't seem to have been done properly. They said an outside cleaner usually handles the toilets and WCs, but that hadn't happened. There was so much fabric spray on the bedding that the sheets felt saturated. The owner cleaned the bathroom after we raised it, but the overall cleanliness and the quality of room 7 were still questionable. That room needs updating.
