The £65 bar credit each was a real bonus, and the drinks weren’t badly priced either, especially with cocktails at 2 for £15. We had a great three nights at the Lyndene and would book again. The room felt dated, but it was warm, very clean and had fresh bedding. Staff were lovely, particularly in the restaurant, where they worked hard serving meals and helping guests with mobility needs. The hotel is also easy to access by wheelchair. Food was generous and tasty, with well-cooked traditional dinners and puddings. Breakfast hash browns were the best, and there’s a waffle machine where you can add your own toppings. The evening entertainment was great, including a tribute act.

The entertainment was a highlight, with great music, a lively atmosphere and efficient bar staff. We found the restaurant excellent too: plenty of traditional dishes, generous portions, quality ingredients and attentive service. Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable and everything seemed well maintained. There’s a lovely feel as soon as you enter, with welcoming, helpful reception staff. We arrived early and could use the facilities straight away. It’s a very traditional Blackpool hotel, full of decorations and festive cheer. It may not be the poshest, but the atmosphere and entertainment put it among the best. We’ve already booked another stay because the value for money is hard to beat.

Room 100 was dark, cramped, cold and really grotty. The radiator didn’t work, and we’d only been there five minutes before I wanted to go home. It cost £108 including parking, but parking is charged separately, and we only got the last available space. We’d stayed here a good few years ago and enjoyed it, so chose it again even though I’d seen nicer, cheaper places while searching for two days. What a way to spend our anniversary. We’re going out for a Chinese soon just to get away from the room for a bit. Honestly, steer clear. I’m half expecting Norman bates to show up. We may not even stay the night.

The entertainment is excellent as ever, and the reception staff are polite and welcoming. We keep coming back to the lyndene, it feels like a second home. Our usual room and our friends’ room were both spacious, clean and had plenty of storage. I could do with more tea, coffee and milk in the room, though it’s no big problem since they bring some when I ask. The restaurant staff are always obliging, and the food is mostly good. I miss having prunes at breakfast, and a continental option would be nice. Bar prices are good, though we usually use the bar credit. Looking forward to our next visit in April.
