It felt like a Christmas dinner, and all five of us left full and very happy. The Sunday lunch portions were generous, with more vegetables than we could eat, and everything, even the plates, arrived hot. It was great value: two of us had starters as part of the two courses for £20 deal, and the kids’ meals were £9. With drinks and a large Merlot for my wife, the bill came to £115. The staff looked after us really well and were very attentive. I’d highly recommend it for Sunday lunch.

I’m so grateful to everyone there, especially Poppy, for looking after my brother Gurj when he was stranded in his van for over seven hours in that treacherous weather. The recovery team couldn’t get to him, and the staff made sure he had warmth, food and a cozy bed. This is when you see the kindness people are capable of. Thank you all so much. May the Lord King Jesus Christ bless you abundantly. It’s a lovely hotel for a pleasant stay too. Stay safe, everyone.

A good choice for a weekend away with friends. You can walk downhill into town to explore the bars and restaurants, then get a cheap Uber back up later. The staff were lovely and welcoming, service was excellent, and the lunch was especially good. I’d recommend it.

We held a party here and everyone was happy with it. The food they put out was great, and they went the extra mile to provide gluten-free food. The entertainment brings in a big, lively crowd, the staff are fantastic, and there’s a great selection of drinks. The food’s lovely too. I’ve come to think of this as my local pub because it’s such an enjoyable place.

The desserts were a letdown. The lemon tart was meant to come with raspberry coulis but arrived with a sad-looking, anaemic strawberry, and the crème brûlée was sloppy, like uncooked custard, with no caramelised topping. They took both desserts off the bill, removed them from the menu and apologised. The main course wasn’t much better: my Sunday lunch was not particularly hot, and the vegetables didn’t have much flavour. After enjoying a lovely light lunch here earlier this year, this was disappointing. It’s a shame the chef doesn’t taste what he’s serving. Please try harder.
