Holiday Inn Express Burnley

We were in Burnley for a funeral and stayed just one night. The hotel was fresh and very clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had dinner there, which was simple but really good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious and self-serve. Couldn’t fault anything.

The rooms were great, the service from every staff member was fantastic, and the price was amazing value. This is an exceptionally well run hotel. I wish every hotel in the UK and abroad were this good.

The food was great and the hotel was okay, but one woman, who seemed to be a manager, made our stay awful. She didn’t have a name badge on her jacket. She kept targeting and picking on us and our children, and we felt it was because we’re deaf. She was rude to us and the kids, and whispered and sniggered about us with another staff member. It ruined the Christmas spirit for my children. We don’t want to go back, especially after the way she treated us.

After a two-and-a-half-hour trip from London, we were welcomed by the receptionist, who showed us to our rooms. We had our dog with us, and the next day I spoke with someone I took to be a manageress. She said she had dogs at home that she cared for. It made for a great experience. I told her I’ve stayed in hotels where I wanted to leave the same day I arrived, but this wasn’t like that. The service was very good, and the basic breakfast was nice. I’d certainly stay again.
