The Lawrence Hotel

Billie was treated like part of the family, with a sausage at breakfast each morning, a Pawstar Martini during Christmas dinner and a Christmas present. The hotel is truly dog friendly, and the festive atmosphere was cosy and lovely. We were upgraded to a room with a bath, which was a nice surprise. It was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. On Christmas morning there was a present outside our door, and breakfast was brought to us in bed. The food was great too. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here for two nights, and couldn’t fault the stay. The hotel made the break feel special, with warm, helpful staff from the moment we arrived. They were especially wonderful considering they were working over Christmas. We’ll remember this stay and would gladly come back. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a dog-friendly break.

Such a dog-friendly place, and worth every penny. The staff were all polite, efficient and really good at what they do. Dinner was outstanding, and breakfast was delicious too.

The young blonde woman, who I think was front of house, greeted us with a lovely smile as soon as we arrived. The waiters and waitresses were always nearby, and the atmosphere was really nice. It was our first Christmas Day here today. Everyone was friendly and professional, and the food was amazing. Thank you for a lovely meal.

The Bridgerton afternoon tea was a disappointing, awkward mess. We were seated at a table with other guests without being told in advance. Nothing against the women at our table, who seemed lovely, but it felt uncomfortable and I think everyone felt the same. We’d expected a nice family afternoon together. I asked if we could move to one of the empty tables in the bar area, but was told no, even though I saw them sitting empty when I went to the bar several times. Service was very slow and confusing. They brought the cakes before the sandwiches, and for a table of eight there was just one pot of tea and a small jar of jam and cream. When we needed more, we couldn’t find anyone to ask. There were other problems too, but I’ll leave it there. Not a good experience at all.
