This felt like a home away from home, and it was better and cheaper than booking two hotel rooms. We shared a clean, modern, spacious two-bedroom apartment with my brother and sister-in-law, who came up from Kent for a Black Tie event. We could all get ready together, with the women chatting in the living room over wine and the men sitting at the dining table with a beer. The customer service was exceptional, and they’d left milk, bread and other little extras. Only staying one night was the downside.

We’ve been here two weeks and the noise on both weekends hasn’t been a problem. The owners and housekeepers have been excellent to deal with, and the view is great. There’s constant hot water, and we still haven’t needed to use the heating. The location is really good too, about five minutes from Tesco and the cinema, seven from John Lewis, and with around ten good restaurants within a ten-minute walk. We’re staying for at least eight weeks because a leak meant we had to move out of our family home. Honestly, I’m tempted not to leave here.

We stayed in this lovely-looking apartment a few weeks ago for a friend’s birthday in Chelmsford. It was really clean and right in the middle of town.
