The food was disappointing and far too expensive for what we got. We were told it couldn’t be changed because it came frozen or prepared, and the meal quality showed it. The risotto rice wasn’t fully cooked, the Hunters chicken had no taste, and our friend only ate half of the very average salmon cakes. The reheated crumble was just poor. Service from most staff was pleasant, and the others were enthusiastic and nice. The woman behind the bar seemed rather disengaged, though given the situation there, I can’t blame her. The staff seem like they could do well with a proper menu and training. I wouldn’t go.

We had excellent service from start to finish on a wet Friday afternoon, 20th February. Two of us ordered from the Senior Menu and the other person chose from the Gluten Free menu. All the meals were good quality with generous portions, and the drinks were good too. Henry, a lovely young man, looked after us attentively and was very patient with our octogenarian friend. Nothing was too much trouble. He’s a real asset to the company and deserves recognition for his service 😀

The hotel has a great view, and the rooms were comfortable, but I wouldn’t return. There seems to be a difference in service between the restaurant and pub area. A table beside us was brought cutlery when their meals arrived without utensils. When the same happened to us, we were told to get our own from the bar. The young blonde woman who said it was very rude. The younger staff could do with learning some customer service skills.

The room was a decent size, the bed was very comfortable, and it came with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. There’s free parking on site. The bathroom is dated but usable, though the pipes make noise after use before quieting down. There are quite a few stairs, and I’m not sure whether there’s a lift. I stayed one night after visiting nearby Sudeley Castle. The hotel and restaurant were clean, and most staff were friendly and approachable. Some areas could use an update, but the Christmas decorations were lovely. The menu had one or two Christmas cocktails, though no others were available. My food was nicely presented and cooked well, although the sirloin was fatty. The dessert was fantastic, and breakfast the next morning had a good selection. It was too rainy to see the conservatory views, but the rain made them beautiful in a different way.
